'Great People...'

'Man I am really impressed by him, he's so intelligent infact a great intellectual...' 'Wow, he's filthy rich, i really envy him...'.. these days people are usually judged by their brains or wealth not by hearts! Last night i was thinking that the best among the peoples were Prophets and after them, Sahabis of our beloved Prophet Muhammad(SAW). What made them the best? No doubt, Allah 'selected' them out of all humans, this being enough to make some 'the best' but still what were the common characteristics in them?? Were they really brainy? intellectual? filthy rich?? or did they had strong logical and analytical skills which outshined others?? I personally believe (and i can be wrong as well) that they were normal human beings (mostly not very sharp or brainy), but yea they were different as well...simplicity, humbleness, forgiveness, self-lessness, loving, soft-heartedness, (only) GOD's fear, strong character, inner purity are the few characteristics which were common in all of them as well as differentiated them from everyone else. These are the things which put them in the hearts of people, making a permenant mark in their lives. Words, no matter how much one like them momentarliy are usually forgotten as they rely on a person's memory but actions get engraved in you forever! One might not remember most of the conversations with best friend but will definitely remember those silent moments spent together during sad days or a loving gesture.

Even Allah sent a living Quran (Prophet Muhammad(SAW) ) in this world before revealing the book. Arabs loved Prophet Muhammad(SAW) not because He(SAW) was the best brain of his times (no doubt being 'the best' of the creations He(SAW) was given an uncompared knowledge) but because He(SAW) had all of the above characteristics at their best! He(SAW) was a simple, loving, forgiving, humble, self-less, soft hearted & a pure human who can be best followed & imitated. He(SAW) transmitted the same qualities in his Sahabas(RA) which were made shining stars to take guidance. These were the qualities which forced non-muslims to convert and since then almost all of the great people had same qualities.

Take out biographies of those who were 'loved' by people, you will find the same qualities. I have heard a lot about such people (present even few decades back) from my elders and even if you ask your parents/elders who inspired them the most in their lives...most likely you will hear about a character having all or most of the above qualities.

Fortunately or unfortunately we are born in the age of technology, where the whole world is becoming a global village, life is getting easy & luxurious day by day, we have all sorts of mean to 'enjoy', we can find 'big brains' 'filthy rich' & 'great intellectuals' everywhere but  rarely you will find someone, after seeing whom your heart will smile and eyes will cry remembering them, you remember Allah on seeing them, whose aloof from the worldly desires...we have 'advanced' a lot but where are such people...??? lost...extinict...or left far behind in the 'rapid advancement of the modern world'...

i slept thinking that maybe i can find such people in my dreams...
