Standing on a cross road...

There are times when one has to take difficult decisions...choosing one out of many possible options...so imp that all of them can change your life...i have been thru these times since last couple of weeks...no doubt it was 'only' my conviction, to live a better life, which made me go thru all the ups & downs during the process of selecting one out of many attractive possibilities...and i beleive the effort was worthwhile...now i have no regrets and am looking forward for a wonderful life..........................

no way!!!ur wrong!!! Neither it was selecting a new job (as m quite satisfied with my current one ;) ) nor it was any marriage proposal (as Alhamdulillah m maaried n very happy :D)...then what else???go on & u will find the truth...

'Internet Technology', YES, selecting the best possible internet technology for my home!!!Believe you me it wasnt an easy decision. Initially since I just had one better option than dialup and that was PTCL Broadband so I applied for it on June 26, 2007. After few days I was told that in Cantt they have fibre optic wires NOT copper wire so they dont have its modem...you cant get the broadband! It has to come from China in few months...It turned out to be quite a few! Anyways will come to that later on.

Then came the Wateen WiMax, I got mad about it and was about to get it when one of my friends who is in Motoralla suggested me to first take his CPE to my home and check it out if the signals are strong...they werent! So basically I had no other choice but to FORGET, having the luxury of using top speed net! But na fate has something else in store for me...

A month back the PTCL people at least managed to get the modems thru Karakuram highway. I called Cantt Exchange (CE from here on) them in excitement but they said that I will have to make a new order since they are not entertaining the old ones. I called PTCL helpline 1236 (from here on called 1236!). They said that there is no need to make a new order since they will re-process my previous one. I said fine.

After 2 days when I called CE, they said that they still havent receive the order. So I called 1236, the guy Siraj said that sir your order was never re-processed, I will do it right now (he asked my cell no, email id and NIC no again) and you can check CE till tomorrow! I said fine. When I called CE after another 2 days they still have the same reply. I called back 1236 and they said that its under-processing. Later on when I called another guy said that you will have to first cancel your order and then order a new! I said fine cancel my previous order! he said sorry sir you will have to call 1236 again and ask them to make u thru the Cancellation Dept. I said fine!!!

I called again and the operator told me that sir there is no Cancellation Dept, infact you will have to go to Egerton Road to get it cancelled! I called again and asked them to get their supervisor on line. Everytime I called the sweet operator just had one thing to say. Sir, please tell me your problem I will handle it and I had to this 100 times!!! This time again the answer was same but somehow I managed to talk to the team lead...'Miss Afshan!'

She very patiently listened to my problem and said that Sir you dont need to worry (Superwoman is here!!!) within few minutes Saima will call you and this would be the final confirmation call. I said fine. Saima called after quite a few mins and asked the same info again and said sir after 15 mins it will be in CE and you wont have to call again! I said fine.

I called CE the next day and they said they the same thing. Called 1236, the reply was sir its not our fault ask CE. Again called 1236 and the guy said that sorry sir your order has been cancelled, now you will to order again!!!!!! I said fine! Called 1236 again, this time the reply was that your order is under-processing! I requested them to get Team Lead Miss Afshan on the line but she was too busy in some other phone call!

Again few days passed by and I called 1236 again and this time the reply was most beautiful of all!! The girl whose name was Neelam said....(I request attention of all readers on this line please!) 'Sir, sorry your order has been rejected as we cant install broadband on your no. since its lines are of copper wire, get it to optic fibre!!!' I was '.' Called again after few mins and the operator said that your order is under-processing and took my cell no that Miss Afshan will call you in few mins!!!!She never called!!!!

I called 1236 again and somehow managed to talk to THE SUPERWOMAN! She had more surprises in store for me. When I told her that I was told by Miss Neelam that my no is on copper wire, she asked me to hold so that she can confirm. She returned and said Miss neelam never said you this. I was LIKE @#$#@$@#$@#$#@$@#. This wasnt enuff!! She literally made me believe that now I am a patient of short term memory. According to her AUTHENTIC SOURCES (and they were very authentic since everyone in the office reports THE SUPERWOMAN for every problem!) a girl by the name of Miss Maria called me 15 mins back and she confirmed my order!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was like what! who called whom?????!!and said sir what are you talking about, Miss Maria called you 15 mins back InFRONT OF ME, you talked to her, she has confirmed your order and now you are just calling again and again for no reason!! Now your order has been confirmed and broadband will be installed within a week.

I said ok I talked to Miss Maria ( I wish someday I can talk to her!!!) but how long will it take for the order to reach CE as they have promised me that they will install within a day once the order reaches there! She kept on saying just one thing...sir it takes a week for the installer to install...anyways I was happy over the realization of loss of my short term memory and sad that I couldnt enjoy talking to Miss Maria :S!!

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!!! Mr Bilal called after few hours and said this is your confirmation call!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I tried my best to make him realize that I had the priviledge to talk to Miss Maria few hours back and she has already confirmed it! But he so humble and innocently rejected the claim by saying that Sir sorry that was a mistake!!! :( I never talked to Miss Maria :(!!! Anyways he took all that info from me again (due to all this now I remember my NIC no ;) ) and said sir SPIDERMAN is here, now you dont need to worry and this is your final call to 1236...you wont believe but that really was the final call :D

Next day I called CE and they smilingly confirmed that the order has reached there (just within 10 months)...I couldnt believe my ears but it was too exciting not to believe...He assured me that most probably they will install it today...I really couldnt trust him since it took 10 months to travel from the headquarter to CE and there were few more kms left!

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise. At 4pm they were outside my home! Installed it within 20 mins!

Now the million dollar question. how is it working?! Well its WORKING (isnt this enuff?!! huh!) disconnecting for few secs after every few mins and giving a top notch download speed of 15-20kbps!!!

Now at least I am enjoying the luxury of fast speed net :D.

P.S If anyone knows Miss Maria please ask her to talk to me :P

P.S2 I guess Miss Maria or the SUPERWOMAN or maybe the SPIDERMAN played a big game with me! My mobile was stolen!!:'( Yea yea it was one of the cheapest mobiles in town but believe you me those 500 contacts were very precious :( ;)
